Agency Nil - Pay What You Want

Here's a new idea for the business world. Pay-What-You-Want Ad Agency. Well, it's not THAT simple. Of course the client pays for production costs and expenses, but it's the creative fee that we're talking about here. At Agency Nil (sounds like I should pay nothing!) how much the client wants to pay is up to them at the end of the work. Their slogan is "Cheaper than freelance, better than interns". Wow, that scares me just a tad bit. A good idea, yes, surely for the owner. No office costs, no overheads, no monthly bills. But I'm worried about them, how exactly are they going to lure in the clients? Trust and consistency is a major issue in this business. Good luck with that. via Springwise

Data - One In A Million

Nowadays it's all about the house parties, isn't it? It's the return of that 80s high school movie where the hero geek goes through a bunch of obstacles, the rejections from the girls, the beatings from the bully, the punishments from the overbearing father and then by some crazy miracle the film ends with him kissing the homecoming queen in the house party. Hollywood on crack.

Well, house parties are back, and now the geeks are the stars of the party. I'm seeing this motif in everything. Fashion, music, videos... Even better is if you combine a couple of these things together, geeky fashion, house parties, and music! (Or sneakers like Adidas does it)

I think there are a couple of people that do this well. The Americans and the French. Strange combo thinking how much they hate each other in popular culture. Here's a video from a French electro band Data. I quite like their sound and their new track One In a Million was received well in the music blog scene. Thanks to Daft Punk we'll be seeing a lot more of these types of bands coming out.

Improv Everywhere Surprise Wedding Reception

In line with the rest of the blog's content it's important for me to post this new project by Improv Everywhere. I like the group's projects and really support the initiative, but I always feel like something is missing. I'm not exactly sure what it is? A little twist in the idea perhaps? A little irony? A little more charisma on the part of the executers? Having said that I support their effort and hope they continue the work.
