Moonpander, You're Going Back!

A campaign created by Torke Guerrilla and Torke 2.0 for National Geographic's special programming on the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. The stunts were inspired by the video produced for the event, a satirical PSA that jokes with the outdated technology of the first moon lander. The campaign consists of flyposting in toy and gadget stores as well as installations around Lisbon's central points demonstrating the area occupied by the computer that supported the moon lander. And the star of the bunch is a celebratory event for the 40th year anniversary that will take place on July 20 in which the Moonpander will be sent back to the moon.

Urban Gardening

A guerrilla urban design project in Toronto. The plant is made out of recycled promotional materials and advertising. Looks quite cool with the plants sprouting out of the paper. Reminds me of the blog's first post about Oda Project's work in Istanbul.

iHouse Faucet

I always wanted to check my emails while showering. Good thing they invented this thing! It's a new product from iHouse, a SmartFaucet. It uses facial screening to turn on/off the water and remembers the user's preferences to moderate the temperature and flow. No, it doesn't end there. You can also check your emails, see the outside temperature or see what's on your calendar. Crazy. Is this stuff going to look normal in 10 years?

Eternal Moonwalk

It's a tribute to Michael Jackson. A great 2.0 idea. It's the eternal moonwalk. You can upload your own moonwalk to join the rest of the world. It keeps you watching forever. And even better makes you want to get off your ass and moonwalk.

Buzz Aldrin Full Moon

We're approaching the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing, so there's a lot of talk on the internet about the topic. One of the names that naturally pop up is Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon and the stories about his jealousy for not being the first. I had to post this funny one from the Ali G show just because it seems so topical these days.

The Spot By Quicksilver

I love the way that Tony Hawk always seems to stick around and make his appearance in cool projects like these. A nice idea for a site by Quicksilver. Check out the video that's not a video.

Panda Lands On Moon To Celebrate Anniversary

Did you know that a Furby toy has 4 times the processing power of the first moon lander? For the 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing National Geographic Channel reveals the unseen moments of history's most dangerous mission and asks the question "where is technology going?"

Samparkour

Inspiring piece, and a good way to think about producing tourism videos. Instead of those glorious crane shots, you could see a city from the point of view of an insider. What better and less cliche way is there to give the real feeling of a place? Take a look at SaoPaulo.

Haystack Wedding

Weddings are always the same old thing. They never get too creative. The white dress, the kitsch decor, the forced smiles... There's nothing really organic about the whole event. I often wondered how people end up reproducing the same mis-en-scene and still feel "special" on their big day.

Then I came upon this set of photos from photographer Josh Goleman. A country themed wedding. There is an idea behind everything, the decor, clothes, mood, even the guests look like they went through a casting. Let's not forget the beautiful photography.

Efes One Love Festival Istanbul

One Love Festival sponsored by the most popular Turkish beer Efes Pilsen's highlights this year were The Klaxons and Röyksopp. The Klaxons rocked the audience, a bunch of below 25 year old Turks looking increasingly more European with their sense of style.

On the promotional side, a bunch of stands promoting different beers were either encouraging to join some sort of youth networking groups, taste different beers, or play Wii testing your balance and sports skills. Samsung promoting their new phone had people playing Twister. No mind blowing ideas in terms of ambient marketing or guerrilla. However, there was a Mexican Mariachi band walking around playing their tunes, the best promotional act of the festival.

Cocaine Laced Red Bull

The story is almost too good to be true. Came upon the news on Animal that the "Russians" found traces of cocaine in the energy drink Red Bull. It sounds like a great marketing stunt, what Red Bull drinker would say no to the drink after hearing the news? They're after the same effect; heightened energy and wings! I think if anything the news will help the Red Bull sales. Red Bull is now coming out with Red Bull Energy Shots whose effects include increased performance and endurance, improved reaction speed, and a stimulated metabolism. Cheap coke never sounded so good.

Air Sex

Although situated in the rather conservative state of Texas, Austin has a lot of potential as a city. Remember Air Guitar? And remember how your friends were getting so into it, and you kept on asking yourself “but why?” Well, some folks in Austin started doing Air Sex competitions. You can get on stage and simulate a sexual encounter. From the video it looks like they’re actually going on for a while. Great way to lose your fear of public speaking.

Speedy Movil - Peru

Here's a cute little video for Speedy Mobile, a campaign made by Young & Rubicam Peru. It reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's the recent motif that we've been seeing as turning digital into tangible.

Agency Nil - Pay What You Want

Here's a new idea for the business world. Pay-What-You-Want Ad Agency. Well, it's not THAT simple. Of course the client pays for production costs and expenses, but it's the creative fee that we're talking about here. At Agency Nil (sounds like I should pay nothing!) how much the client wants to pay is up to them at the end of the work. Their slogan is "Cheaper than freelance, better than interns". Wow, that scares me just a tad bit. A good idea, yes, surely for the owner. No office costs, no overheads, no monthly bills. But I'm worried about them, how exactly are they going to lure in the clients? Trust and consistency is a major issue in this business. Good luck with that. via Springwise

Data - One In A Million

Nowadays it's all about the house parties, isn't it? It's the return of that 80s high school movie where the hero geek goes through a bunch of obstacles, the rejections from the girls, the beatings from the bully, the punishments from the overbearing father and then by some crazy miracle the film ends with him kissing the homecoming queen in the house party. Hollywood on crack.

Well, house parties are back, and now the geeks are the stars of the party. I'm seeing this motif in everything. Fashion, music, videos... Even better is if you combine a couple of these things together, geeky fashion, house parties, and music! (Or sneakers like Adidas does it)

I think there are a couple of people that do this well. The Americans and the French. Strange combo thinking how much they hate each other in popular culture. Here's a video from a French electro band Data. I quite like their sound and their new track One In a Million was received well in the music blog scene. Thanks to Daft Punk we'll be seeing a lot more of these types of bands coming out.
